In the summer of 2022, the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, MCCA, issued the Mass Mutual Convention Center Marquee Project for bid and construction. The project was for the design and installation of a Digital Display for the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, MA. City Enterprise Inc was successful in its bid to perform the work and the project began on June 16, 2022.
City Enterprise Inc. worked with Daktronics, the largest digital display designer and manufacturer in the country. The display was constructed on exterior of three sides of a stairwell on Main Street in the northwest corner of the MCCA. The digital sign itself measured forty (40’) feet wide and is just over twenty five (25’) feet tall. It is comprised of seven hundred fourteen (714) individual monitor panels all programmed and synchronized to together as a single unit. In addition to designing and installing the digital display, miles of electrical conduit were run and programmed.
The stone exterior of the MCCA had to be removed, re-configured and reinstalled after significant structural steel reinforcement was added to the wall structure to help support the new display. An existing sidewalk Kiosk, directly in front of the MCCA was dismantled and rebuilt with new state of the art display and electronics at each face of the kiosk.
